Position Overview
The VP, Reinsurance & Program Development will be a key strategic partner to the CEO, leading cross-functional initiatives that drive the creation and management of programs. This role will focus on expanding and strengthening Rainbow’s portfolio of insurance products, reinsurance treaties, and capacity partnerships.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for aligning organizational priorities with operational efficiency to ensure successful execution. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management, and communication skills to facilitate coordination across teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and expand the roadmap and portfolio of insurance programs from start to finish.
- Drive the analysis, marketing, placement and administration of reinsurance treaties that achieve the company’s objectives for individual lines of business and across the portfolio.
- Consult with the company’s Insurance, Underwriting and Actuarial leads regarding program evaluation, development and enhancement of program-specific reinsurance placements and the product roadmap.
- Oversee the buying and annual negotiation processes of reinsurance treaties for both property and casualty lines of business.
- Develop and maintain relationships with reinsurance brokers and underwriters, and the program administration industry more broadly.
- Act as a key point of contact for any partners associated with any programs.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Strong collaboration skills to ensure effective alignment among diverse teams, including appointed reinsurance broking teams.
- Excellent financial and reinsurance coverage acumen.
- Executive presence and ability to communicate with, influence, and manage stakeholders, including C-level executives.
- Translate high-level strategies into clear financial models, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations to ensure alignment across departments.
- Drive reinsurance marketing, placement, negotiation, and management efforts with our reinsurance brokers.
- Anticipate and interpret market dynamics to maintain the best position possible.
- Track project progress, remove roadblocks, and advance Rainbow’s position in the reinsurance marketplace.
- Serve as a key advisor to the CEO, providing critical insights and strategic recommendations regarding the insurance portfolio.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials for executive meetings and use superior communication skills to manage dialogs with external partners.
- Foster strong cross-team communication to ensure alignment across the organization.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a strong track record of leadership and relationship-building.
- ARe, CPCU or similar industry designations are a plus.
Technical & Industry Expertise
- Proven experience in reinsurance program design, analysis, placement, and execution across multiple Property & Casualty segments including admitted and surplus lines, and package and monoline offerings.
- Strong financial acumen with deep knowledge of reinsurance coverage.
- Ability to develop presentations, memos, and financial analyses quickly and effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills with an executive presence.
- Strong ability to influence and manage stakeholders, including C-level executives.
- Proven collaboration skills to align diverse teams, including appointed reinsurance brokers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting strict deadlines.
- Highly developed analytical, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%, including attendance at key industry events.
